Located in the heart of metropolitan Los Angeles, the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits is one of the world’s most famous fossil sites. Visitors can see Ice Age fossils — including saber-toothed cats, dire wolves and mammoths —  from 10,000 to 40,000-year-old asphalt deposits.

Admission is free for all students, and up to one adult per every five students. Grade-specific guided programs are available October through February. They are free, but require an add-on reservation. For a full list of programs, click here. Field trip resources are available on the Tar Pits website, including lesson plans and guide for chaperones. Reservations for the 2016-17 school year can be made online beginning August 15.
