With 100,000 objects dating from ancient times to the present, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the largest art museum in the western United States. School tours at LACMA are led by trained art docents, who engage students in active looking and discussion focusing on a select number of works in the collection. Teachers can choose from a variety of grade-specific programs, and download supplementary resources on the LACMA website. Browse programs and learn more here. LACMA will also offer one free passenger bus to Title I LAUSD schools with a group size of 40–60 students who request to come on a docent‐guided tour. Reservations for the 2016-17 school year begin July 15.

Unable to bring your class to LACMA but want to encourage your students to engage in museum learning anyway? Get them involved in the Arts for NextGen program, which provides free general admission to kids under 18 and an adult guest!
