HIRE LA’s Youth / Summer Youth Employment Program

HIRE LA’s Youth is a program endorsed by Mayor Eric Garcetti designed to put L.A. youth to work and put them on the path to becoming lifetime earners. Once enrolled, youth can sign up for Job Skills Workshops, held all around the city, and earn their Work Readiness Certificate to make them more competitive for a job. HIRE LA’s Youth also administers the Summer Youth Employment Program.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 14-24 years old
  • Resident of the City of Los Angeles
  • Family meets low-income criteria or receives public assistance; OR foster youth; OR homeless
  • Right to work in the U.S.

L.A. County Earn & Learn

Deadline: Rolling

Earn and Learn is L.A. County’s youth jobs program, providing paid work experience during the summer and year-round, including on-the-job training and personal enrichment training. Different programs available depending on if candidate is CalWORKs or in foster care. See website for details.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • L.A. County Resident
  • CalWORKs recipient ages 16-18; OR foster youth ages 14-21
  • Right to work in the U.S.
