Engineering Tomorrow Virtual High School Summer Camp

Enrollment is now open for Engineering Tomorrow’s 2022 Summer Camp sessions! All sessions will be held virtually at no cost to students. Each week-long session is scheduled for a Monday, Wednesday and Friday in July. Sessions run for 3 hours in the morning each day. During each session, students will engage in two hands-on lab challenges and hear from a leading expert in a relevant field. Students are welcome to apply for 1, 2 or all 3 sessions. Applicants must be current 9th, 10th or 11th grade students.

NSBE Aerospace SIG FIRE Rocketry Challenge

The NSBE Aerospace SIG invites teams of middle and high school students to register for the FIRE Rocketry Challenge, which will launch in August 2022. No experience is necessary to participate,  just a team of three students, who can be registered by an advisor, coach, or parent. They’ll receive access to curriculum and materials, office hours and live webinars with mentors, and a team grant application. The competition will consist of building and launching model rockets, completing design challenges, and delivering a 10-minute oral presentation. For more information, contact rocketry@firestem.org.

KidWIND REcharge Academy for Educators

KidWind is excited to announce the 2022 REcharge Academy to be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico from July 18th through 21st.

Now in its 16th year, the REcharge Academy is KidWind’s flagship educator training program focused around renewable energy. The intensive training blends lectures from experts and tours of energy facilities with hands-on K-12 lessons to give educators content as well as context. The REcharge Academy combines materials from REcharge Labs, WindWise, KidWind, NEED, WhiteBox Learning and Vernier, as well as many other materials that are applicable and useful in the classroom. Over 500 educators of all types have attended REcharge Academies from all over the world and have impacted thousands of students and educators all over the globe.

KidWind has scholarship funds available to help defray some of the costs to attend the academy. Click the link below to see the cost breakdown and apply.

Anyone who renews or activates a membership after that day will have active access until July 31, 2023. ​

Any membership renewed or created between now and April 30 will only be recognized as active until July 31st of this year.  ​

All members and chapters are advised to wait until May 1st to save the trouble of renewing/enrolling twice.

Free Summer Program in Physics for High-school Students

Are you a high-school student interested in exploring different topics in Physics? If so, this program is for you! The Stanford Program for Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Physics (SPINWIP) is a summer learning program designed to get high-school girls excited about physics. This 3-week program is completely free to participants and will be held through video chat.

Stanford/KIPAC Astronomy Lecture & High-school Summer Program in Physics

The Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) at Stanford University is excited to share with you upcoming learning opportunities in physics and astronomy! Our monthly public lecture is open to all but recommended for high-school students, advanced middle-school students, and adults. We are also offering a 3-week, virtual summer program for high-school girls. All events and programs are free of charge.

2022 Apple Engineering Technology Camp​

This summer, Apple is inviting a select group of high school students from across the country to participate in an Engineering Technology Camp. The five-week program gives students a rare and exciting glimpse into the company and the opportunity to work in small groups and collaborate closely with Apple hardware engineers. ​

Timing: July 5 to August 5, 2022​

Location: Due to the dynamic state of the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple will announce in the March timeframe whether the camp will be offered virtually or in-person in Cupertino, CA.​

Eligibility: High school sophomores and juniors with an interest in hardware technology. ​

Cost: Free. Apple will cover the cost of equipment and supplies (as well as travel and accommodations if applicable). ​

Berkeley Lab High School Summer Programs

BLDAP (in -person/ 35 hours per week) – The Berkeley Lab Director’s Apprenticeship Program (BLDAP) is a project-based high school STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) program designed to help participants develop 21st century skills.

EinR (virtual) – Experiences in Research (EinR) is a virtual internship program for high school students to gain hands-on experience with professionals at Berkeley Lab. Students spend six weeks over summer remotely working directly on cutting edge projects alongside experts in STEM.

SAGE (in-person) – Science Accelerating Girls’ Engagement in STEM (SAGE) is a one-week summer camp for public high school students (age 14-17) hosted by National Laboratory scientists and engineers to share what life is like in STEM professions.

Free Bilingual 3Day STEM Camp for High School Students

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s K-12 STEM Education team will be launching a Spanish-English Bilingual STEM camp for high school students (bit.ly/sea-stem) over spring break (April 7-9, 2022); called SeA @ Berkeley Lab. This program is FREE and we are looking for Spanish and Spanish-English speakers who are interested in learning more about STEM careers.

The program schedule includes a virtual evening on April 7th and two full days on-site (COVID protocols permitting) April 8 and 9. Final decisions on virtual versus in-person programming will be made by March 1. All materials will be supplied in either version of the camp. Breakfast and lunch will be included for in-person iterations.

California Science Center

ROAR Summer Academy for California High School Students

The Summer Academy rigorous, intensive two-week online summer program for advanced high school students interested in learning about Python programming and introductory autonomous driving algorithms. This summer program is in partnership with the FHL Vive Center, an AR/VR research center at UC Berkeley.

The goal of the academy is to support high school students in their exploration of  science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects as a career path and provide an in-depth, interactive overview of undergraduate engineering majors, programming, hardware and software design.

They will be primarily learning about python programming and machine learning. Students will then be invited to race their autonomous driving agents and compete in the 2022 Summer ROAR Competition.

Early Application Deadline: March 18, 2022

Who should apply: Participation is limited to High School students who live in California and will be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in Fall 2022. Students who will graduate before the start of Summer 2022 are not eligible.

Financial aid: For families who demonstrate financial need, the ROAR Academy awards full scholarships, and you do not need to submit an additional scholarship application. Please see the website for eligibility.
