State Controller LA Summer Internship

The Office of State Controller John Chiang is now accepting summer intern applications for its Los Angeles office. This is a non-paid internship. There will be two six-week sessions offered. Additionally, all interns must attend a mandatory orientation. The application deadline is April 23, 2012. Click here for more information and here for the application.

Juniors! A Chance to Win $10,000 for Higher Education
Every year, Nordstrom awards $10,000 scholarships to high school Juniors who show ambition and dream of higher education. Scholarships are paid out in $2,500 installments over a course of 4 years and are awarded based on a student's academic achievement, awards/honors, leadership, school activities, community/volunteer activities, financial and employment activities. FREE USC Summer Camp for 6-8th Graders! July 8-19
USC Viterbi presents the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Camp (EMBHSSC) for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The camp provides activities, experiments, projects, and field experience to stimulate students' interest in science and technology as a potential career choice.
Free Literacy Day at the California African American Museum! Saturday May 18

Literacy Day features author, illustrator, and Caldecott Medal winner, Kadir Nelson, along with celebrity readers Debbie Allen, Malcom Jamal Warner, and Deidrie Henry. Interested in Journalism? Join Reporter Corps!
Reporter Corps offers young adults (18-24) direct experience with digital news processes and production, city government, fair representation, and storytelling by immersing them in the field of journalism. Program begins May 20. Ideal applicants are 18-24 years of age, grew up or live in the South LA area, hold a high school diploma, and are able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for 3 months. A background in journalism is NOT required, we only require your curiosity!
